The atmosphere, food, rooms, team and of course the location, were all magical and just what I was hoping for when I booked for our family of four to stay on Christmas Eve for a spot of barefoot luxury. We stayed there towards the end of our trip around Sri Lanka and although we had stayed in some great places throughout our holiday, I felt the most spoilt during our brief time the Halcyon Mawella: from the personal greeting most guests received from the owner ( and his lovely dog Loki) through to the welcome cocktail, the beautiful pool set against the backdrop of the best beach we visited in the country, not to mention the delicious food on offer - everything about the environment invited you to relax and have a great time. My only regret is just booking the one night ...

Halcyon is a new hotel with a great pool and an incredible location right at the beach. The beach invites for walks and also swimming as the waves are not too big. The staff are attentive and the service is excellent. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well equipped. The design of the entire hotel is beautiful and thought through to the last detail. The hotel has sup boards and kayaks which can be used to explore the lagoon right behind. And the owner has many very useful tips for exploring the area, and sri lanka. It is a great place to start your holiday, for couples and for families too.

Wow fantastic location right on the most unspoilt sandy white beach. The hotel is beautifully decorated paying attention to every detail and your comfort. The food is also very good. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic stay which we did ! Thoroughly recommend.

Halcyon Mawella is tucked away behind a fringe of palm trees just meters from one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. It is a beautiful boutique hotel exquisitely designed. The villas are dreamy particularly loved our upper unit with its huge balcony. Great relaxed vibe around the property. Staff all super friendly and incredibly helpful. Restaurant consistently delivered delicious food. Loved the bar veranda above the restaurant which was a great option to chill out in during the afternoon to read or have drinks pre or post dinner. Icing on the cake though was to be able to walk along the endless beach, watch the fishermen, swim safely (no steep sand shelves or rips) all just minutes from our room. This is a stunning area (conservation) with only a few other low key accommodation options and places to eat. Good luck Alex with your endeavours to keep it this way. The Halcyon and Mawella are both very, very special.

Loved everything about the place and wish my friend and I could have stayed longer. Everything from the interiors to the location, menu, and more is so well thought out and executed. Would love to go back here and definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful, and super relaxing place to stay in SL!

Location right on beach. Unspoilt beautiful beach, beautiful infinity swimming pool, bedroom and bathroom fabulous. Loved the bar and restaurant area, great vibes. Food absolutely delicious, both breakfast and dinner menu,excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This is an exceptional hotel, it ticks all the boxes and the beach is one of the best we went to in Sri Lanka, totally unspoilt. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, the rooms were large and we had a huge bed, it is what a boutique hotel should be.

The hotel is right on a beautiful basically private beach, with only local fisherman on the shore. We had a great day sat by the pool and boogie boarding in the sea. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The design and decor of the rooms is lovely, Hikkaduwa beach is a short Tuktuk away.

Exquisite. Incredible rooms, fantastic pool, the beach is half a stone’s throw away. The food and cocktails are delicious. The service, inside and outside the restaurant, is impeccable. If the website doesn’t work, make use of the contact numbers there to ask questions about your booking.
