“The bird feeders off the deck are the reason I would return to stay here”
31 Jan 2025
The breakfast was not included in the price. All the meals at the restaurant were excellent.

“Great place, lovely people”
29 Jan 2025
Delicious food and great service from Miriam and her family, who also arranged a successful quetzal tour with an excellent local guide Alex. Cabins are small but very cosy & suited us much better than the smarter looking hotels and lodges further down the valley. Lots of birds on the deck behind the cafe too. We loved it here.

“A great value, cozy cabin”
06 Jan 2025
A small, but cozy cabin. The heater kept us toasty and the blankets on the bed are super warm. The shower is hot. There is a coffee maker. Ana is very friendly and helpful. The cabins are opposite a cafe and next to a pizza restaurant. The spare single bed was a great place to put our stuff.

“Excellent food and birdingspot”
24 Dec 2024
From the balcony you can see a lot of endemic birds, lots of Hummingbird and many other. The Quetzale is close by. The food is excellent

“Stay at least 2nights”
05 Jul 2024
The cabin was fitted out for 3 people but would have been a bit cramped. Ideal for 2 bearing in mind that the temperature drops dramatically to about 6C at night. However Ana provided plenty of blankets and a heater, whilst we took clothing to suit the outside temperature. The location at the head of the San Gerado valley and at about 8000ft above sea level is spectacular and very different to any other location we had visited during our 21 days in Costa Rica. A trip down the valley is well worth it, especially before 6.30am in order to have a chance to view the varied wildlife in the area. Include a road walk if birding ( there are Quetzals in the area). But remember to get back before breakfast ends! Breakfast was typical Gallo Pinto with great coffee and the restaurant has a limited but good value menu for evening meals. There is a pizzeria opposite providing an alterative to Comidas Tipicas. The 12k Colones size is big enough for 2. Ana also has a bird feeding station giving great photo opportunities. This is one place I'd love to go back to some time, but at 74 time is not on my side!!
