We loved everything about our stay ( it was one of our favourite places in Japan!). It was quirky and comfortable and the host went out of her way to welcome us and make sure we were comfortable. We loved the original style house and the delightful features. The amenities were very clean and it was conveniently located to the ferry, shop and a charming coffee shop literally next door. we loved meeting the resident cat, although he was somewhat aloof! :) we also loved their restaurant which was a short walk from the accommodation- the food was fabulous and the ambience perfect. Would highly recommend to friends and family.

A warm, and intimate traditional Japanese house that made my island stay feel as cosy and comfortable as if I was in my home. What I liked: -Jyubei-chan: I saw this guesthouse had a cat and immediately booked it. I was out exploring the islands for most of the day, but I still got to spend one evening with Jyubei falling asleep next to me and letting me pet him. I love that he is the mascot for this guesthouse and all the Jyubei and cat themed artwork around the guesthouse was very cute. -Superb location: near the Honmura area bus stop, next to Ando Museum and Minamidera, right in the heart of the Art House Project area. -Restaurant: The guesthouse staff work at Cafe Salon Naka-oku and offer you the option to make a reservation there when you book. I highly recommend it! I booked it for my first night, and the food was so amazing, I went back again the next evening. One of my favourite restaurants in all of Japan: try their fish specials and curry omurice. You also get a discount coupon for coffee. -Amenities: I was surprised it had a free laundry and dryer. The living area has a kotatsu that is so nice to cosy up in the winter evening. I didn't use it but the kitchen is also quite big. -Room: I stayed in the female dorm, the room is spacious enough to pack and unpack comfortably and you get a small cube and hanger for storage of extra items. Bed was really cosy and clean and you can adjust the airconditioning as you need. The walls are made of paper (literally) so you can hear everything, but as there are not many guests and it is a quiet island, the house is quiet at night. They let me store my luggage before check-in, although there's no locks, so keep valuables with you. -Social: As it's a small space with only a few guests, it's easier to meet and get to know people. The staff are really kind and helpful and very responsive if you have any problems, always replied really quickly to any messages I sent and were really accomodating.

Lovely staff and the house was beautiful, with a good kitchen and common areas. Great location (across from one of the art exhibits and next to a cafe with great coffee). Free laundry and dryer! Everything felt clean and well looked after. Would love to stay again

Extremely cosy share house stay, quiet, great location for seeing the island - proximity to exhibits and bus stop. Multiple showers and bathrooms in the house also.

Stunning historic building full of charm and an absolutely incredible location right next to the Ando Museum. It's a very small and intimate place which makes meeting and hanging out with other visitors very natural and easy. There's free laundry, a cute cat, and wonderful staff who went the extra mile by sending my Kindle to my next hotel when I left it behind. Thank you! <3

This is such a nice place! We had a Japanese double room and we slept so well! The house is very pretty and very clean. There are three separated showers and three toilets, easy to share. The living room an me kitchen are sweet too. The best thing is it’s so quiet and the staff is super nice! It’s in the middle of the art house project with a little cafe at the front. They also have a really nice restaurant only minutes away which we can totally recommend!
