The fine print
The swimming pool will be closed on these dates in 2020: 17 and 18 February, 30 and 31 March, 11 and 12 May, 22 and 23 June, 3 and 4 August, 14 and 15 September, 26 and 27 October and 7 and 8 December.Please note the spa will be closed from 16 March 2020 until 22 March 2020 due to maintenance work.Hotel residents and hotel guests must pay an extra fee of GBP 10 for use of the spa facilities (maximum of two hours only).To access the spa, guests are required to book a treatment. A 55-minute treatment includes the spa facilities use, however if you purchase a 25-minute treatment an additional GBP 5 surcharge will apply to use the spa facilities (maximum of two hours only).It is advised to pre-book treatments or spa facility use to avoid disappointment on arrival.When booking more than 5 rooms, different policies and additional supplements may apply.The outdoor thermal spring pool is adult-only and is complimentary for hotel guests, open 09:00-17:00 (subject to change due to seasonal hours).Please note that a maximum of 2 dogs can be accommodated in the standard double balcony rooms. Guests are responsible for the well-being and comfort of their pet during their stay. Please inform the property in advance of your stay if you plan to bring your pet.Our Outdoor Natural Spring Lido closes every 6-8 weeks to conduct maintenance and a deep clean, please give the hotel a call to enquire about dates of closure. Pool opening times do vary depending on the season, any enquires please email [email protected].Our Spa is pre booking only for both residents and non residents, so to book please use either our website newbathhotelandspa.com, give us a call on 01629340340 or email [email protected] . All of the Spa treatments include complimentary 90 minute spa use, including use of our outdoor lido. We do advise to pre book Spa use and treatments to avoid disappointment upon arrival.
We unfortunately do not allow pets in the rooms, but are more than welcome by the pool and in our bar.

Having read mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect when we booked to stay here for two nights. What we found was a hotel that was being thoughtfully ran and gradually updated/upgraded while maintaining the character and features of a hotel established in the 1700's. Great location, lovely grounds, lots of character. The full English breakfast was immense and our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent. The staff were efficient, extremely polite, pleasant and helpful. The internal layout of the hotel was interesting as you would expect given it's age, with wide staircases and rooms going off in different directions, but a great sense of light and space. The bar was lovely with piano and open fire.

Overall the public rooms were in need of improvement - which seemed to be underway, painting being done etc. the bedrooms we had were cold to start with, but we could turn the radiators up, which worked well in one room, the other remained rather chilly; the dining rooms and bar were very cold - it was one of the coldest days of the year this UK winter and the hotel is an old building so this is somewhat to be expected - but they could maybe have made more effort to keep at least some areas with doors shut and extra heating. They were very happy for us to move tables to get nearer to radiators though! Dinner was an excellent meal. The outside Lido pool was very nice (the reason I had booked this particular hotel). The staff were very friendly and eager to please. They let us have breakfast at the 'old price' as this had increased since we had made our booking.

Good location. Nice comfy room. Good view from room over the pool. Reception manager Abhi was great. Really understanding and helpful Pool was by far the best bit. Adults only which was only draw back. But a geo thermal pool. Very unique as totally natural spring water. The pool manager was super helpful and knowledgeable

Clean, comfortable, in a great location to the nearby town of Matlock bath itself and also within walking distance of Matlock town centre too. The new owners are doing a great job, throughout. I love the mix of up to date modern bathrooms alongside period bedrooms. The staff are all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The chef pulled out all the stops on New Years Eve when we’d planned on going into town for a meal and drinks but the awful weather changed our plans and last minute he managed to sort us two filet steaks even though the restaurant was full, compliments to the chef as our meal was fabulous. In my opinion the Hotel has fallen into the best hands it could have. Given time it will only get better and better. Good luck going forward and hopefully we’ll be able to come for a stay in summer.
